Tanyoto (谭鱼头) @ Clarke Quay, Singapore

If you find Hai Di Lao (海底捞火锅) delicious, you may want to try another steamboat brand Tanyoto (谭鱼头). Located at Liang Court in Clarke Quay, the restaurant sells very similar variety of steamboat items. Tanyoto (谭鱼头) has more variety of soup bases. It is another option if you crave for delicious steamboat without waiting for too long.
For two persons, we spent a total of SGD174.20. We were extremely stuffed and we finished about 95% of the food.

We ordered two soup bases - Tanyoto Burdock and Sakura Chicken Soup and Tanyoto Peppery Flavour Soup with Capsicum. The chicken soup was delicious, sweet and rich. You can drink it on its own. As for the Peppery Flavoured soup, we found it a little bitter but very spicy. Both soups complemented each other. If you are sick dipping food into the hot spicy soup, you can always switch to the chicken soup. (Food rating: 3.5/5)

Our special condiments - mix the sliced chilli with tons of coriander and drown them with soy sauce. Viola!! you have have a delicious dipping sauce for your steamboat. It was not only fragrant but also spicy.

Crispy Fish Skin ($8.00) (香酥鱼皮). You can either eat it on its own like crackers or dip it into the soup base. The fish skin will turn soft as if it was fish maw. Dip it into the dipping sauce and you will feel as if you are in cloud nine. The fish skin was freshly prepared that you do not taste any stale oil or anything else. (Food rating: 3.5/5)

Japanese Wagyu Beef Slices ($24.00) (极品雪花和牛). We ordered a half portion of the beef slices and shabu-ed it. The beef slices were tender and soft. It was extremely delectable. (Food rating: 4/5)

Four Treasure Balls ($9.00) (手打四宝丸). Handmade meatballs made of prawns, squid, pork and beef were huge and chewy. You can taste the juice coming out of various balls at every bite. Suggest sharing with two other persons, otherwise, you will get stuffed very fast. (Food rating: 3.5/5)

Minced Meat Dumplings in Chilli Sauce ($4.00) (红油水饺). The dumplings were perfectly cooked. The dumpling skins were chewy and the meat was juicy and tender. The sauce was a little spicy yet it had a unique, yet delicious taste. Even though we could not make out the ingredients used to make the sauce, it was so delicious that we finished it without hesitation. (Food rating: 4/5)

Vegetables - Beancurd Skin ($3.00) (豆腐皮), Asparagus ($4.00) (鲜芦笋), vegetable platter ($7.00) (蔬菜蓝). The beancurd skin was best dipped in the spicy hot soup. The skin absorbed the spicy soup base that gave it the extra oomph. As for the vegetables and asparagus, though freshly prepared, they are best cooked in the chicken soup base. The sweetness from the vegetables were enhanced in the chicken soup. (Food rating: 3/5)

Other ingredients include - Lamb Slices (澳洲羊肉卷) $9.00, Mushroom Platter (蘑菇蓝) $9.00, Sweet Potato Vermicelli (四川薯粉) $6.00, Udon Noodles (乌冬面) $2.00, fish dumpling (鱼饺) $4.00 and beancurd stick (炸腐竹) $3.00. If you are going to order any noodles, suggest ordering either the sweet potato vermicelli and/or udon noodles. Both of them are very chewy and tasty in both soup bases.

Last but not least, garlic cucumber (蒜泥黄瓜) $5.00 was extremely crunchy and fresh. They were very good dish to start the entire steamboat meal. Do give it a try!!
