Shake Shack @ Grand Central Terminal, New York, United States

It was an extremely cold sunny day at a temperature of minus five degree celsius on a Wednesday afternoon. My friend and I took the subway to Grand Central Terminal to have lunch at Shake Shack. This time, we ordered three new food items in the menu. Although we ate something from Shake Shack a couple of days ago, we were back again.

Despite its numerous outlets in NYC, the outlet at Grand Central was still crowded with people. The staff did a tremendous job in taking orders but the pick-up queue was a little too long. We waited at least 15mins before our number was called.

Although the staff were very busy, they remained cool and friendly to the customers. We ordered three items to day and spent a total of USD18, including beverages.

Currently I have two all-time favourite burger joints - Shake Shack in New York City and Mr Bartley's Cottage Burger in Boston. So, what's yours?

The ShackBurger (See photo above) (490kcal) was a cheeseburger topped with lettuce, cheese, tomato and Shake Shack's homemade sauce. At USD4.95, the single patty was made of 100 percent all-natural Angus beef. What wow-ed us the most was the beef patty. The patty was perfectly cooked, tender and juicy. We could say that it was like a soup dumpling (小笼包) that oozed out juice when you take a bite. This is a must-have, must-try if you were to come to Shake Shack. (Food rating: 4.5/5)

Priced at USD4, the Shack-cago Dog (390kcal) was topped with relish, cucumber, tomato, onions, pickles, pepper, celery mustard and salt. Both of us felt that the hot dog was a little too sour because of the pickles. I did not enjoy the hot dog as much as the ShackBurger. (Food rating: 2.5/5)

I did a quick research on the Yukon Potatoes. It was a large variety of potato which was most distinctly characterised by its thin, smooth and eye-free skin and yellow-tinged flesh. It could be baked, boiled or possibly french fried. The fries from Shake Shack was truly comforting. The crispy outer crust and soft flesh of the golden fries, drizzled with the right amount of salt, was delightful to eat. Each bite was addictive. My friend and I were competing to eat as much as possible. None of the fries were soft and soggy. Priced at USD2.90, it was a high quality portion of fries. (Food rating: 4.5/5)
